Having good posture is more than just physically looking better. Proper posture is an integral part of long-term health as well. Making sure that you hold your body the right way can prevent pain, injuries, and other health problems.
The spine holds the key to good posture
We must maintain the natural curves of the spine while sitting, standing, walking or even staying still. Your head should be above your shoulders, and the top of your shoulder should be over the hips.

Poor posture can be bad for your health
Slouching or slumping over can misalign your musculoskeletal system. Having poor posture also increases pressure on the spine, making it more prone to injury and degeneration.
There are many theories that bad posture is a contributing factor in low back pain. Some studies have shown that improved posture and postural control can have a positive effect on pain.
While yoga certainly helps in improving our posture, having a deeper understanding of muscular engagement and skeletal alignment in yoga poses allows us develop and refine posture.
Here’s how we can help:
Bodhi Yoga Center is offering online training courses. Among these courses is a 60-hour Online Immersion in Yoga Anatomy that tackles what exactly goes on in our bodies as we move and stretch. Here, our students clearly see which muscles contract and lengthen in a particular yoga pose, and learn how to address limitations in range of motion. The immersion is 50% yoga practice and application, and 50% theories and discussion.

People who want to deepen their exploration of their mind-and-body connection are recommended to join the training. The 60-hour Online Immersion in Yoga Anatomy can be taken as a standalone course, or as part of our full 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Online Course.
